If you weren’t aware by the countless Instagram posts, I went to Miami at the end of March. I had been hoping that the Glossier Miami pop up store would open while I was there… and much to my luck, it DID! When I saw the post about it opening I nearly jumped for joy.
I have always been a huge fan of Glossier but lately I had not been into them as much. I hadn’t been to their showroom in a long time, hadn’t tried any of their new product launches, and wasn’t feeling the same Glossier love I was when they first launched in 2014.
That being said, visiting the Glossier store reaffirmed my love for the brand. The showroom was absolutely gorgeous; Art Deco inspired architecture, a banana forest leading to the bathroom, and Glossier fruit carts that had products throughout. It was in the art district area, Wynwood, and the people and vibes in that area were so fun.
Luckily, they had their Glossier Play products on display, so play I did. I ended up leaving $70 poorer and four new products in my collection – and just about a million postcards…. (I love using various Glossier paraphernalia in the background of my flatlays because they instantly make everything look more put together.)
Read on to see what products I picked up in the Glossier Miami pop up and my thoughts on them!
Do you ever see a product launch and think, I would never need something like that? That’s how I felt about this product. I didn’t see a point in spending $22 on body lotion when my $8 bottle of Nivea worked perfectly fine.
I tried this product in the showroom and wasn’t going to get it. But after walking around the store trying other products, my boyfriend grabbed my arm and and was shocked at how soft my skin was, “like a baby!” I obviously had to get it.
It smells very soft and clean, and I love slathering it on after I get out of the shower. However, the moisture definitely doesn’t last all day. For that reason, I can’t say that I would repurchase because I just cannot justify spending $22 on a body lotion that isn’t 100% perfect for me. I will definitely finish, and cherish, the rest of the tube.
I didn’t want to like Glossier Play products. I really didn’t…..
This eyeliner is amazing though. It’s honestly so much more pigmented than I was expecting from this line, and it’s a beautiful, aqua/turquiose/eggshell blue.
It seriously complements my brown eyes SO well. I thought wearing colorful eyeliner would make me look crazy, but paired with simple dewy makeup on the rest of the face, it looks absolutely gorgeous. I like to pair it with the Phantasm glitter….which I review down below.
It also has pretty decent staying power – I wore it on a night out and it didn’t smear, melt off, or budge. I was very impressed with this product, especially after seeing mixed reviews on social media.
You know how I said I didn’t want to love colorslide? Well, I really didn’t want to love the glitters…. but I did. And I caved. And bought two. (I honestly would have bought the whole collection…..)
These glitters are so beautiful. They truly feel like everything I’ve been searching for in a glitter, but have yet to find. They apply smoothly without looking chunky and cheap. On your eyes, they’re super glam and fun, and you instantly feel like a pop star once they’re applied (which is always a goal in my book).
The best part is the way they look in photos under the lights. Absolutely stunning.
Bijoux Bijoux is a glimmery, silvery-metallic shade that reminds me of diamonds and jewelry. I would say this is definitely the more subtle one of the bunch, but beautiful nonetheless. It’s great over a smokey eye for a lux, heavy metal look, or used alone for sparkly glam.
And then we have Phantasm. Holy shit, I’m obsessed with this product. I never thought holographic glitter would work for me, but it does? I layered this over Early Girl, and it blew me away. Seriously. It looks like everything I’ve ever wanted in a glitter, plus a little more. It’s a super fun product and is perfect for when you want to amp up your look a bit more than usual. Think of it as a product that was meant to be worn under a disco ball….
If you’re like me and somewhat of a sucker for anything Glossier creates, then you’ve probably already swatched and played with their new products. Not all of their new line was a success for me however. I only purchased these four products because I was impressed with them in-house. The Vinylic Lip and Niteshine highlighter didn’t really appeal to me and I wasn’t sold on them, even after swatching in person.
Have you tried anything from Glossier’s Play line yet? Let me know in the comments below.
